Our work in the community

Kaizen Seicho Henshin Karate  Community Interest Company

JKS Karate Chester's goal is to make high quality karate training available to all. In recognition of the fact that there are sometimes barriers to entry for certain groups into sport, exercise and well being activities; JKS Chester fundraises for, and provides, community projects through it's dedicated community interest company Kaizen Seicho Henshin Karate. For those interested, Kaizen means improvement, Seicho means growth and Henshin means transformation.

This page will showcase the work that Kaizen Seicho Henshin Karate Community Interest Company does in the local community to promote the values of karate and to improve access to opportunity for vulnerable, excluded and at risk groups. Through this work we aim to make a positive impact on the local community.

Watch this space! We are actively fundraising for a young people's project and will make more information available as and when we have it!

23rd Oct 2019: KSH CIC is awarded grant by the Earl of Chester Trust

We are delighted to be able to announce that we have just been awarded £2,800 by the Earl of Chester Trust to support our first project aimed at providing diversionary activities for vulnerable and at risk young people in the Chester area.

Rodney Witter (head of trustees at the Earl of Chester Trust) said of our application that the trustees 'were all much impressed by the initiative you are taking with KSH Karate, and would like to help with the kit required. Trustees agreed a  £2800 grant...We do hope this is helpful, and wish you all success with the venture.'

This tranche of funding will be a further boost to securing the remaining sums required to get the project started and in anticipation of this we will be immediately starting pre-project preparations that include liaising with local schools, Cheshire West and Chester County Council (Education and Social Services) and our partners in JKS England.
